Bethany Yeiser is the President of the CURESZ Foundation which she co-founded with Henry Nasrallah, MD, in 2016. CURESZ stands for Comprehensive Understanding via Research and Education into SchiZophrenia. She is a motivational speaker, advocating for schizophrenia awareness and proactive treatment. She is also the author of Mind Estranged: My Journey from Schizophrenia and Homelessness to Recovery (released May 31, 2014). Her second book, Awakenings: Stories of Recovery and Emergence from Schizophrenia was released in February 2024, and authored jointly with Dr. Henry Nasrallah.
Bethany was a scholarship winner and researcher before she became severely mentally ill and homeless her senior year of college in 2003. Prior to her diagnosis, she successfully published three research publications in molecular biology, including an article on DNA replication that has become of key importance in modern cancer research. She also worked as a freelance professional violinist prior to the onset of her schizophrenia.As of 2024, she has maintained a high level of recovery for 16 years. She currently is a full time employee with the CURESZ Foundation. Bethany also publishes a blog called "Recovery Road" on PsychologyToday.com. In her free time she studies Chinese and preforms modern and religious music on violin.
